The Dark Tower Gunslinger Born comic books series from Stephen King and Marvel Comics books consists of seven stunningly drawn and written issues. Each issue of The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born also is produced with increasingly rare and collectable comic book covers. The first alternative comic book cover for each issue is called a color variant. These are provided to dealers based on the quantity of regular comic book covers they purchase. The color variants are normally produced one copy for twenty-five regular covers. Color variants for the Gunslinger Born are drawn by guest artists and are therefore very unique to the series.
The second special alternative comic book cover for each Dark Tower Gunslinger Born issues is called a sketch variant cover. These are in black and white and are drawn by the comic book series artist Jae Lee. Sketch variants are also sold to dealers based on their quantity of regular covers purchased. The Gunslinger Born sketch variant covers are two to three times rarer that color variants as only one copy is sold for each fifty or seventy-five regular covers.
In addition to the regular covers, when an issue of the Dark Tower Gunslinger Born comic book series by Stephen King is republished, the cover artwork is changed by a guest artist. Gunslinger Born issue one had two additional printing and there are unique covers for each. Gunslinger Born issue two also had two additional printings and unique cover art. Issues three and four of Gunslinger Born had one additional printing each with unique cover art.
