"The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." With those words, millions of readers were introduced to Stephen King's Roland - an implacable gunslinger in search of the enigmatic Dark Tower, powering his way through a dangerous land filled with ancient technology and deadly magic. Now, in a comic book personally overseen by King himself, Roland's past is revealed! Sumptuously drawn by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove, adapted by long-time Stephen King expert Robin Furth (author of Stephen King's The Dark Tower: A Concordance) and scripted by New York Times bestseller Peter David, this series delves in depth into Roland's origins - the perfect introduction to this incredibly realized world; while long-time fans will thrill to adventures merely hinted at in the novels.

There are five story arcs planned for the Dark Tower comic book series. Based on the staggering popularity of the Dark Tower comic book series, we suspect there will be many more comic book series within Stephen King's Dark Tower comics. The current three story arcs consist of these Dark Tower series: The Gunslinger Born, The Long Road Home and Treachery.

The Stephen King Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born comic book series consists of seven comic books from Marvel. In addition, there were two special introductory items including the Daily Bugle story and a special in the Marvel Spotlight #14. There was also the story Guidebook and the introductory Sketchbook for the Gunslinger Born comic book arc series.

The Stephen King Dark Tower: Long Road Home comic book series consists of five comic books. The Long Road Home series also included several introductory issues in the Best Selling Authors and the End World Almanac. Like the Gunslinger Born series, the Long Road Home series also includes special covers in color and sketch variants.

The Stephen King Dark Tower: Treachery comic book series consists of six comic books. These began publication in September 2008 and had one Dark Tower: Treachery comic book published each month. There are special issues as well as color and sketch variant covers.
